London Housing Crisis

Unite Building

Olympic Park

Housing in London has been an issue for a considerable time. As London is now one of the most expensive cities in the world to live in, with the population expected to grow to 10 million by 2030, lack of housing becomes a clearer and increasingly growing problem. Given
this anticipation of a massively inflated population, requests for housing soared and with a high demand for suitable accommodation far exceeding the supply of them, inevitable action would be taken to resolve the issue. This is crucial to the continuing economic growth of London in terms of creating new, affordable homes attracting people, supporting a workforce needed to comply with the cities equally growing job requirements.

Stratford particularly saw several developments of apartments buildings for example the Olympic Village, that gave homes to hundreds of individuals, families and couples alike. Other buildings such as the Unite building which stands at 28 stories high and is home to around a thousand people, specifically students. This allowed locals but also many students from within the UK and from abroad to live near the university itself, but also in reach of many of London's main attractions.
